Dan’s Plans for the Legislature
Cost of Living
Oregonians are doing everything right and still falling behind. Families are cutting back, small businesses are stretched thin, and seniors on fixed incomes are feeling the squeeze—yet the legislature keeps responding with higher taxes and more spending.
Dan Farrington believes the cost-of-living crisis results from government living beyond its means. As a business owner, Dan balanced budgets, made tough decisions, and understood that every dollar mattered.
In the Legislature, Dan will:
Oppose new taxes that hit working families and rural communities the hardest
Push for disciplined spending and real accountability in state government
Roll back policies that drive up energy, housing, and transportation costs
Government should live by the same rules families do: spend responsibly and plan for the future
Public Safety
Dan will:
Back law enforcement and first responders
Support consequences for repeat offenders and drug traffickers
Oppose policies that prioritize criminals over victims
Compassion and accountability are not opposites—you need both to restore order and trust
Every Oregonian deserves to feel safe in their home, their school, and their community. Unfortunately, years of soft-on-crime policies have left law enforcement understaffed and communities less secure.
Dan believes public safety starts with respect for the rule of law and strong support for those who protect us.
Wildfire Recovery & Forest Management
Healthy forests mean safer communities, stronger rural economies, and better stewardship of Oregon’s natural resources. Years of neglect and mismanagement have turned forests into tinderboxes and put lives, homes, and livelihoods at risk. My first priority when elected will be to help support the communities in House District 17 that are still struggling from the devastating Labor Day fires.
Dan supports active, forest management that protects communities and restores balance.
He will:
Support responsible thinning and fuel reduction
Advocate for local input in forest management decisions
Promote policies that reduce wildfire risk and support timber jobs
Caring for the land means using common sense, not political ideology.
Rural Healthcare
Access to quality healthcare shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code. Rural communities across Oregon are losing providers, services, and hospitals because state policies make it harder—not easier—to deliver care.
With decades of experience working alongside physicians and healthcare professionals, Dan understands how regulations, costs, and workforce shortages affect patient care in the real world.
Dan will fight to:
Protect rural hospitals and clinics
Reduce red tape that drives providers out of rural areas
Expand access to care without sacrificing quality or affordability
Healthcare decisions should be made by patients and providers, not bureaucrats in Salem.
Supporting Business
Small businesses are the backbone of rural Oregon. They create jobs, support local communities, and keep towns alive—yet Salem treats them like an afterthought.
Dan Farrington has built businesses, met payroll, created jobs, and understands firsthand how state policies affect employers and workers.
Dan will:
Cut unnecessary regulations that stifle growth
Oppose tax increases that punish job creators
Champion policies that help businesses hire, grow, and stay in Oregon
Oregon needs leaders who understand the real economy, not just the theory of it.
Education
He will:
Focus education on reading, writing, math, science, and career skills
Support career and technical education and trades training
Ensure parents—not politicians—have a voice in their children’s education
Schools should reflect community values and prepare students for real-world success.
Education should prepare kids for life—not politics. Parents know their children best, and teachers should be free to teach without constantly shifting mandates from Salem.
Dan believes in strong academics, parental involvement, and accountability.
Protecting the Lives of All
In the Legislature, Dan will:
Defend the sanctity of life
Oppose policies that devalue human life
Support families and communities that help women and children thrive
Protecting life means building a culture of responsibility, care, and respect
Dan Farrington is pro-life and believes every human life has value and deserves protection.
His belief is rooted in faith, compassion, and the conviction that society should stand up for the most vulnerable—including the unborn, the elderly, and those who cannot speak for themselves.
Protecting the Second Amendment
He will:
Oppose unconstitutional gun control measures
Defend the rights of responsible gun owners
Stand against government overreach that infringes on personal liberty
Oregonians don’t need more restrictions—they need laws that are enforced fairly and consistently
The Second Amendment is not about politics—it’s about freedom, self-defense, and personal responsibility.
Dan Farrington is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and believes law-abiding citizens should not be punished for the actions of criminals.
